I did not know Dillard, but I wanted to express my deepest condolences to your family during this difficult time. To lose a child is tragic, especially at such a young age. I will keep your family in my thoughts, and we at TTU are all thinking of you now. May your family find peace during these dark hours.

I was Dillard's 12th grade English teacher.   I think of my students as an extended family, and I am greatly saddened by the news of his passing.  Dillard was very bright, ambitious, pleasant, and just a really good person.  I enjoyed talking with him and reading his stories from class.  It was my pleasure to have known him. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.

TraceyI live off the main road in Rickman, Tennessee. If the additional ice and/or snow comes I may not be able to get there. Hopefully, someone can get Moma there. She has become depressed over this tragedy. She needs to see her family to work out her thoughts. Tracey, please be aware--Moma i in the early stages of dementia---if she falters in word or action, plz disregard. I think James will be able to get Shelia there. A friend of mine was killed Tuesday trying to get to work. Her husband then accidentally ran over her trying to recue her. She has 4 daughters. She was only 38.  I don't want to put DeeOnna's life in jeopardy if the roads are worse. She's only 6. (DeeOnna has been mine since she was about a yr oldlong storyshe isn't Matt or Amelia's child.) I know that you understand because you are a moma. I also know that you will not remember who does or does not come. There is nothing any of us can do for you except come to you when you ask us to. Again, my number is 931-644-2274. My email is garynealisloved@gmail.com.You are my fb friend, now, also. Trust me on thispeople will unintentionally get on your nerves but they will mean well. Try to detach and do this your own way. I love youyou're blood is my blood...

I did not know, Dillard but when I received the email from president Oldham my heart saddened for you. I am thinking of you, his family and friends. Though any loss is difficult to endure, it is especially painful to lose one so young and full of good not yet accomplished. Bless you all.
