I have known Evelyn and Eugene as long as I have been in this world. They used to come in our store, White's Market, all the time. Always remember that bright smile. Another piece of my childhood is gone now. She was a sweet lady and will be greatly missed.

We are saddened to hear about Evelyn's passing away. We have many fond memories of her at the store in Lafayette when we were young. She was always so neat and dressed nicely.
She was always so sweet and kind to us.
She will be missed by many.
Love,

Aunt Evelyn was a fixture in our family at Uncle Gene\'s side as long as I can remember. Aunt Evelyn was this larger than life person that loved and laughed and cried. She helped Mom raise us from time to time. She dusted us off and kissed a scratch or a bruise or spanked our butts in reprimand and told us to get upstairs and find something to do.
Aunt Evelyn, with her dyed hair and penciled eyebrows, her used work shirt with the sleeves cut off, a handkerchief wipe in her cleavage and a sharp comment. She could pick beans and pull corn, ride the da\'dabacca setter and cut off cabbage and can sour kraut. She could grade and strip da\'bacca for the market. Slice apples to dry on the tin laid across saw horses. Cooking up a meal from scratch or a pie or cake was a magical creation in my eyes and a delicious work of art in Aunt Evelyn\'s hands. A pinch of this and a dab of that always created a delicious meal or dessert. Aunt Evelyn could do most anything from farm and tobacco work, to housework and being an amazing wife and Aunt us kids, nieces and nephews.
A sister-in-law to our Mom and another valued daughter to our Papa & Grandmother. An amazing wife to our Uncle Gene, She was loving and caring and stern when it was called for. She taught me how to properly wrap a Christmas present.
She could tell an off color joke to get a laugh and quote Bible verses from heart having read her Bible through numerous times over several years. I have thousands of memories of my youth and growing up in Macon County. Engrained in that memory is my Aunt Evelyn and the loving, caring contribution she gave to our family. Thank you Aunt Evelyn for all that you were to us and all the other lives you touched. Our God made good use of Aunt Evelyn while she was here with us. Thank you Lord for all that she was to us all.
