So sorry for your loss. I went to school with Gerald years ago and seems like I have known him my whole life. He was a good friend, and an all around good man.
I know he will be missed. Many Prayers for the family.

My deepest condolences to the family on the loss of your loved one. And may you find comfort in knowing that your dear loved one is safe in the memory of God, who will remember every detail about him and bring him back again in the resurrection. So for now, just think of him as sleeping peacefully waiting for Jesus to wake him up. (Acts 24:15)
