Mattie "Kate" Overstreet

September 1, 1922 — April 17, 2014

Mattie Bennett Overstreet, known by many as “Kate”, age 91, and a native of Smith County, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Knollwood Manor in Lafayette, where she had been a resident for five years.  Funeral services for Mattie Overstreet will be conducted at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in the Tanglewood Community of Smith County on Sunday, April 20th at 3:00 p.m. with Brother Ron Ralph and Elder Jeff Blackwell officiating.  Visitation will begin on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette and will resume on Sunday at the Cornerstone Baptist Church where her body will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m.  Interment will follow in the Smith County Memorial Gardens in Carthage.

 

She is survived by: Son & Daughter-in-law, Sammy and Neda Overstreet of Alexandria, Daughters and Sons-in-law, Shirley and Phillip Anderson of Red Boiling Springs, Dimple and Jimmy Wilburn of Lafayette; Sister and Brother-in-law, Alva and Earl Ledbetter of Lebanon; Grandchildren and their spouses, Christy and Jeff Gregory of Lafayette, Gina and Mark Dillon of Carthage, Bob and Lauren Lowery of Hartsville, Delia and Doug Oldham of Carthage, Vivian and Eric Becker of Pigeon Forge, Melissa and Mark Sloan of Carthage; Step-grandchildren and their spouses, Wayne and Lee Ann Anderson of Red Boiling Springs, Kenneth and Gena  Tidwell of Dixon, Kathy Swam of Alexandria, Connie and Scotty Jackson of Brush Creek, Barbara and Gary Walker of Pleasant View; 14 great grandchildren; 14 step-great  grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.
